Astrodharma Transit Report: February, 2021

DECLOAKING THE DERVISH

THE BIG EVENT this month is the Feb 12th New Moon in Aquarius during which more than half of the Zodiac (6 planets) will be conjunct in the sign of Aquarius.

I strongly recommend finding out which area of your birth chart this powerful Stellium will be falling in. Squared by Uranus and Mars, this mid-month planetary pile-up promises a pivot into fresh vision and opportunities for enlivening change.

Next, we have the revolutionary Saturn/Uranus square that goes exact by degree on Feb 17th. Its meaning? Depends entirely on how deeply the citizens of each country absorb the lessons of 2020.

In 2020, the Saturn/Pluto conjunction fulfilled its end of the bargain by exposing institutionalized corruption in government, media, healthcare, voting and the courts. Now Saturn/Uranus asks society: Do you have the existential guts required to tear down and rebuild what has become comfortably oppressive and miserably secure?

Regardless of how the greater world responds, this awakening square reminds each and every one of us that Samsara is a crumbling stage set designed to help us redirect worldly desire at the meditative fullness of Being.

Saturn/Uranus asks, How darkly imperfect and unreliable does society need to get before you mystically co-operate? Look around: mind-on-a-countdown is helplessly attracted to apocalyptic narratives and depressing Dystopian drama. Why? Because: ashes are as close as ego ever gets to phoenixing into God.

Next up: the Feb 27th Full Moon in Virgo which offers welcome grounding and clarity about how to move forward in the coming months.

The entire month is overshadowed by an electric, vision-zappy Mercury retrograde in Aquarius that goes direct on February 20th, urging everyone to tune into the globally spreading psychic impacts of so-called “private” thought and “personal” conversation.

The Four Elements of Right Speech: Intuition, thought, utterance and self-reflection

Between mind and mouth there is a gap. How we bridge that gap is a key indicator of how rooted we are in that which precedes thought and utterance.

Buddhists call the practice of moving from intuition to thought to utterance to self-reflection “right speech.”

A more accurate translation from the original Pali reads, “consummated speech,” implying a soulful romance that matures for a while, before our psychological pants fly off.

Unwilling to stand bewildered, for a moment, in divine pauses? Scared to draw attention to your vulnerable, preverbal soul by violating the manic pace of standard, egoic repartee? In that case, the Buddha warns, you’re likely to die as you were born: an archetype slave.

But wait! Just when skillful and honest dialogue seems to be on the decline as social media inflames polarized debate, the Aquarian face of God steps in to initiate the entire planet into a more studious, ego-witnessing posture that has the power to flower us into clairvoyance and other psychic styles of relating.

“Decloaking the Dervish”

When Sufi Dervishes spin, they start out cloaked in black. Over time, as the reverie builds, the dark outer layer comes flying off, revealing a billowy white undergarment.

This is what can happen to us in February. Wanna increase the odds? Try this Portals to Presence Practice and feel into this dharma poem.

Aquarius, after all, is ruled by Uranus, the planet of shocking change and release into new realities. Squared by Saturn (the matrix through which we perceive “reality”), Uranus delivers paradigm-crashing insights and “crazy wisdom: the prelude to Rumi’s “astounding, lucid, confusion.”

Said more playfully: During February, sleeping on a park bench has a better than average chance of awakening our inner Eckhart Tolle.

Before we exit the park, however, we’ll need to break free of some trendy, “blip with a lip” habits of communication.

This is especially true for those who have personal planets and points between 11 and 26 degrees Aquarius.

Note for Fridge:

Only vigilant quietude has the power to shape us into an unstoppable world-changing force.

Why? Because it is from here that we derive embodied answers to the questions listed below. The result? A presence-arousing demeanor and the authority of Being.

Self-Inquiry Questions for Mercury Retro in Aquarius

1) As what am I speaking?

2) What in me needed to say that?

3) What self-image was ego trying to be right about?

4) Did I pause to feel their suffering before I spoke?

5) If not, who was I really speaking to?

6) If my energy and words were simultaneously broadcast through this person to every other soul on the planet, would I have spoken any differently?

7) Could the supposition that “I’m not talking to the world, I’m talking to you” be the spawning ground for the interpersonal sloppiness that ignites the skirmish, spreads division into the community and continues spilling outwards into regional conflict and even world war?

8) Could wars be nipped in the bud if a critical mass of mankind understood the viral impacts of everyday, one-on-one communication?

“Universal” is the default setting for Aquarius. That doesn’t mean Aquarian souls are emotionally wooden– just that their tears have collective roots. Tears well up for you and all of humanity at the same time.

Does that make you less special, or more?
