OCTOBER is a nutritiously witchy brew with chunks of surprisingly digestible shadow.
Main course: a Lunar eclipse at 15 degrees Aries on Oct 8th and a Solar eclipse at 0 degrees Scorpio on Oct 23rd – both bubbling up from a cauldron of Mercury Retrograde in Scorpio (begins on Oct 4th). Stir it all together and you get a chewy broth of opportunities to face and release stagnation – particularly in relationship. The Scorpio part of us knows there’s a brain in our gut and it wants a larger piece of the action. Get thee behind me, heady principles and plans!
Given that the continuing Uranus/Pluto square moves into a T-square with the Sun and Venus until Oct 14th, best to resist the temptation to take hardline positions “for the sake of the larger community.” A bout of friendly fascism during a Mercury Retrograde in Scorpio could quickly and fatally poison a friendship. Fortunately, the odds of this playing out are slim. Why? Because the first half of October is significantly brightened by the continuing visionary zeal of the Mars/Jupiter/Uranus fire Trine and a de-personalizing Uranus conjunction to the October 8th Lunar Eclipse in shoulder-punching Aries. (Think: full moon on steroids).
Translation: yes, we may want to punch a few shoulders to take an emotional risk (Moon/Aries) and generate some get-real contact, but we’re too Google earth’d to take the tiny drama down below very seriously. No time to inaugurate or sign anything, for sure, but go ahead and burn into that renovation, writing, research and -most of all – aggressive strategizing. This way, you allow the excitement of future visioning to numb the sting of glitchy Mercury Retro setbacks. Plenty of time to move forward in November when Mercury goes direct and Mars marches into surefooted Capricorn.
Finally, we have the October 23rd Solar Eclipse in Scorpio* (conjunct harmony-loving Venus and softened by a compassionate Trine to Neptune). By now, I’m guessing you’ve gotten pretty comfortable strolling around October’s back alleys in your ashram whites. Impressive. Now it’s time to change into your thrift store rags and put in some time at the vocational compost bin, turning over the discarded scraps of purpose – the moldy ideas of who you are – praying for the strength to keep on shoveling until the smelly layers of “what used to satisfy” fully and finally decompose. Okay, good work; time for a rest. Hey, look over there; what’s that glittering in the middle of that steaming pile of poop? By god, it’s a brand new, fully realizable life-direction.
