The Peacetime Roots of Overseas Bombing
July kindly invites us to inquire into the peacetime roots of overseas bombing.
After all, if war is arising in our perception, it’s not actually happening overseas. It’s a catalyst for self-inquiry, FedEx’d directly to our doorstep.
The question is: How do we war?
Perhaps an identity-hardening belief starts to strut, stepping on someone’s toes. Or a survival fear is triggered, resulting in a sloppy spray of anger or a cold blast of brusqueness. Every ego has its way of going numb to the one God places in front of us.
Welcome to the peacetime roots of overseas bombing.
When will war end?
When a critical mass of civilians notice how me-stories effortlessly dissolve into space, minus the drama of wanting, not-wanting and couldn’t-care-less.
When we stop substantializing ourselves through points of view and rest as flawless awareness enjoying the play of personhood.
Objectivity Upgrade
The good news: our witnessing skills are undergoing a “objectivity upgrade” due to the planet Uranus moving into the sign of Gemini for seven years on July 7th. Great for quickly naming and taming passing mind-states: a practice deepened by the study of Astrology since Astrology is ruled by the planet Uranus.
Easy to focus on the speedy wonders of A.I. But something more important is going on. Uranus is repurposing the Gemini mind– imploring us to ask,
What are the thoughts that take me beyond thought?
That’s right. Uranus is whisking us into a life that only makes sense as a koan.
Sometimes the world is too vast and complicated to trust. That’s when we trust in the koan to hold us.
Question: What is Buddha nature? Answer: The flowering hedge surrounding the privy.
Uranus in Gemini: A.I. Arms Race Meets The Direct Path
There comes a time when life reinvents us. We come to a crossroads. An irresistible demand for aliveness takes over, veering us into the unknown.
Meeting people during these life-reimagining moments is my passion; a passion that led me to spend most of my adult life living at retreat centers and exotic destinations on people’s bucket list. Gradually, it dawned: These are Reinvention Readings.
That was pre-Covid. Now, “crossroad consciousness” has gone mainstream.
Yes, the fashionable flatness may continue to play on the surface. A quick peek inside, however, reveals a trembling mind-on-a-countdown, desperate to “find out what remains.”
You can see it in the way the eyes move: how they roam like a hungry wolf, scanning (not for horizontal romance) but for a wild, all-absorbing “yes to life” that vaporizes the orphanedness and trepidation going viral across the globe.
Zen calls it “The Direct Path.” Astrology calls it, Uranus jolting us into the sign of Gemini (July 7, 2025- May 22, 2033).
Gemini is ruled by the planet Mercury which rules not just “thinking,” but attention, itself.
Uranus, on the other hand, is called “The Awakener.” It rules electricity and aliveness: the benevolent shocks that break us free of “project me” so we can assess our impact on the larger space, the community and the collective consciousness.
What happens when awareness meets benevolent shock? In short, “Beginner’s mind.”
During the next seven years, attention wants to migrate off of “things,” onto awareness, itself. A time to relax backwards into our own gaze and confess:
The “seamless field of sentience,” saturating and subsuming the entire dreamscape, is on duty 24/7, ready and eager to guide my steps and feed my soul.
Dharma in the Doom
Having said that, I’m also aware that Uranus in Gemini is the official start of the winner-take-all A.I. arms race: a prospect so freaky that more and more minds are taking refuge in the La La Land of their iPhone.
Ah, but there is dharma in the doom.
“Artificial Intelligence” assumes that we understand what “natural intelligence is. We don’t, of course, and many are now seeing that the advent of A.I. is a exciting opportunity to collectively confess: True Nature is not downloadable; It’s something that must be experientially earned through meditative relating and collaborative self-inquiry.
Seen in this light, A.I. is a crucial catalyst. We called it in to put pressure on the realization of our natural state and, if we play our cards right, A.I. will give us the time and space to do exactly that!
Surely we aren’t the first civilization to reach this bifurcation point. Finally, we must choose: age humbly in pursuit of Self-realization over lifetimes or self-destruct while grasping for eternal earthlingness.
Four Pithy Pointers
Now that we’ve covered Uranus, let’s distill the remaining transits of July into four pithy pointers.
1) The Full Moon in Capricorn on July 10th
Is this dry ambition or tenderized authority?
2) Saturn’s first near-exact conjunction to Neptune on July 15th
As the Samsaric stage-set splinters and groans, I offer comfort and relief to the harried and homeless by embodying a rock-solid faith in the eternalness of the soul, spiraling homeward over lifetimes.
3) Mercury retrograde in Leo (July 17th- August 10th)
True leaders are brokenhearted: heroically responding to the suffering directly in front of them.
4) New Moon in Leo on July 24th: “Beginner’s Ear“
With both Sun and Moon opposed Pluto, this contentious New Moon is a time to de-escalate and redirect the energy of personal confrontation into laser-focused meditation, study or creative project.
On the world stage, look for a short, sharp volley of vengeance, prompting us to redouble our efforts at “Beginner’s Ear:” the sacred art of hearing– in ego’s indifference, swagger and attack– a muffled “cry for love.”
Question: How are you? Answer: Now is more wonderful than any verdict.
