2025 demands bloodshot sublimity; a mad, meditative ease embodied, not for ourselves, but for the bankrupt and bereaved: the godless and orphaned in every eye.
For surely grace does not descend into the “miserably secure” without upheaval and disarray, urgency and angst.
How wise were we, then, to take birth during this chaotic, cleansing descent when nuanced, archetypal understandings of the psyche, like Astrodharma, are internet-accessible, supplanting the soul-less, one-size-fits-all headspace promulgated by corp/gov.
This is deep-diving Pluto fresh into the cutting-edge sign of Aquarius until 2043, awakening a plethora of soul-seeing therapies.
The question is, how much of Aquarian society must Pluto breakdown before we return to the open-air equality of sangha: the tribal witness support where each person’s on-the-spot struggle and victory over ego becomes a template for our own?
Dangerous Listeners
The word, Sangha, originally referred to the group of disciples who renounced worldly life to wander with the Buddha. Today, it gets watered down to, spiritual community. Me: I prefer, “A band of dangerous listeners.”
Or, in astrological language:
A circle of souls who flicker playfully between the two poles of the Aquarius/Leo polarity: relating “as awareness, to awareness,” followed by tears of gratitude and a big-hearted hug.
What you’re looking for is a field of “dangerous listeners:” souls who fall backwards into the “psyche of cosmic dimensions” for perspective and guidance about ways to hold space for your hurtable human heart and maximum flourishing of the soul.
This is nonduality in action.
What will 2025 reveal to those brave enough to join (or start!) these Aquarian soul-mirror circles? Francis Weller said it well:
There is some strange intimacy between grief and aliveness, some sacred exchange between what seems unbearable and what is most exquisitely alive.
January Transits:
The final push into the Aquarian Age
It is the honor and duty of Capricorn to reality-test the beliefs and philosophies of the preceding sign, Sagittarius.
Your worldview may, or may not, be ultimately true, says Capricorn, but if you can’t successfully market it to the masses– building credibility slowly over time and watching real people benefit– what good is it?
Welcome to the cold pragmatism of January– toughened further by the militant Mars/Pluto opposition which continues until Jan 21st– returning, again, this April. Notice the hot zones when the opposition goes exact: Jan 3rd and April 27, 2025.
Fortunately, there is counterbalancing grace. Mars will Trine Neptune (ruler of Pisces) from the 10th to the 14th and the Lunar Nodes will switch into Pisces/Virgo as well.
Listen to Lady Neptune as she whispers,
Some souls come in, Bodhisattva style, to magnify our shadow. In that sense we owe them, no?
Mars/Pluto helps us confront the ways we control and manipulate (vs. inspire and guide) for the sake of some otherwise admirable end.
The new year begins under high tension
Retrograde Mars in Leo opposing Pluto in Aquarius is all about exposing corruption and calling back stolen power from those who have abused it. Those who act (Mars) on their pride (Leo) instead of for the greater good (to push society forward, like Aquarius urges us to do) will now begin to fall– but not without a fight. That’s what the next three to four months are all about.
Think of it as the final push at the climax of a birthing process into the Aquarian Age. Yes, it hurts, but there’s something jaw-dropping on the other side that makes it all worth it.
The baby’s face is proof that God is not yet sick of us.
The good news: Mercury will be transiting the sign of Capricorn most of the month (8th-26th) allowing for a more pragmatic, less paranoid view of world events. The “inner game” becomes starkly apparent:
Which voice will we listen to?
1) Orphaned ego:
God’s a kid with an ant farm. He’s not planning anything.
2) The Merciful Witness:
When you hold the world like a glass already broken, every minute with it is precious.
January 13th Full Moon in Cancer
Taking Time for the History-less
On January 13th, the Full Moon in Cancer forms a loose conjunction with Mars, activating the Mars/Pluto opposition. Then, on the 16th, the Sun reaches an exact, combustible opposition to Mars, setting the tone for the January 20th U.S. Presidential inauguration.
During times like these, deliverance comes– not so much in meditative seclusion- but in the throes of listening someone else into Being and, in the process, noticing:
Only The History-less know how to listen.
Ah, the refuge we were looking for.
Pluto wants us to own our shadow, rather than projecting it out onto politicians, partners and faceless institutions. Ah, but how to stop resenting and lamenting such traumatizing darkness? Try this:
Burning Down the House
First, we must get real. These flagrant corp/gov PsyOps are kid stuff compared to the gargantuan, ego-humbling shadow prowling every moment just below our awareness:
The body/mind house is burning down to the eternal ground of an unborn, undying presence.
Let’s visualize the burning house
Picture the licking flames of time– the glowing tangerine serpents dancing in an amoral frenzy in the upstairs window.
Hear the sudden violent pops, the subtle “poof” of an emaciated, white-hot dinner table leg no longer able to hold its shape, the eerie squeal of a two-by-four outgassing, as if it were begging for mercy.
Not notice the lungs of the house; the commanding, low-pitched roar, the grave, inhuman confidence of the house as it broadcasts calmly like a talk show host from Hell as post and beam take turns crashing down in a hail of sparks onto the scorched black pavement.
Now ask yourself: What posture shall I assume as this body/mind house falls down around me? What messages shall I shout over the fence to my neighbor in that classic English Tudor, soon to be a pile of steaming rubble?
There now. We have located ourselves, accurately, as the Merciful Witness of the burning. How interesting are the psychopaths now?
January 29th New Moon in Aquarius
On January 29th, the New Moon in Aquarius forms an auspicious Trine to Jupiter. Mercury moves out of Capricorn into Aquarius one day later when an second Trine forms between the Sun and Jupiter. The mood brightens. Our faith is rewarded as we give thanks to the indispensable, and oh so timely, dharma of January:
The “disciple of crisis” is adrift without an O.A.R. (Overarching, Afterlife Resolve).
No Need for Bird Flu
The following confession is designed to rip out the roots of the Bird Flu before it gets started.
Hungry for rock-solid incarnational purpose– the one sure right thing to do with my shrinking birth/death interval– I unwittingly asked the plague-pushers to unite us all in a dark, world-saving mythology; a dogmatic pseudo-sangha with plug-and-play commandments, unburdened by ambiguity and self-doubt.
Now it is clear: the dream of separation offers no steady reason or purpose. Meaning and direction arise only as I devote myself fully to a soul-seeing life and invite the “imaginary others” to walk serenely alongside me, alive to the Shepherding Presence, ever-safe, ever-loved and ever-at home in the heart of God.
