Year of the SamurWhy: The Twelve Faces of Jupiter in Gemini

The big news this month is Jupiter moving into the versatile, articulate sign of Gemini for one year. Good to know which house(s) Jupiter will be transiting in your birth chart, as this is where opportunity and expansion are virtually begging to happen. Not sure? Great time to map out the next year in a reading.

As you move through Jupiter’s twelve house positions below, best to balance keywords with contemplation, prescription with silent self-inquiry.

Jupiter Transiting the First House
Curious Equals

Trusted Confidante, I want to be like You: listening without a hint of condescension, treating us like “curious equals.” Soul-seeing Sensei, bless you for taking us under your wing, devising this life-changing yearlong apprenticeship. Reign in our ill-timed advice, our shameful stabs at knowership, until You give the green light: “Pounce now on this teachable moment so I can speak sensitively through you.”

Clarify personal philosophy, study with a teacher, explore a new teaching or step out as a teacher. Spend time outside, go hiking, travel with a partner, build physical strength.

Jupiter Transiting the Second House
Kneel Estate

Upgrader of apes, thank you for this precious “kneel estate.” Help us to treat mirrors like spiritual practice tools designed to anchor us into our deathless Being, and accept aging as evidence of the flesh-boat being upgraded into an unsinkable etheric body. Break now this trance of complacency about our God-given measure of health and privilege. Make us rich beyond any bank balance– somatic millionaires, neck-deep in a heap of gold (sight, sound, taste, touch), drunk on the mystic bank of the senses.

Relax into your God-given worthiness, develop abundance mindset, purchase real estate, meet with financial advisor, invest and circulate money with faith, learn, get massage therapy credential.

Jupiter Transiting the Third House
Bulbs

Scourge of all scholars, without Your ego-humbling presence, all knowing is nonsense. The cleverest utterance: dehumanizing smart dust. Hit us with the hard truth, Father Jupiter: there is no teacher or student– just You talking to Yourself. Just You, relating “as awareness to awareness,” including and transcending all evidence of separation. The truths that actually matter: Christmas tree bulbs– dazzling and fragile– delicately hooked on the limb of “what is.”

Practice extemporaneous speech, absorb information quickly, deepen writing skills and manual dexterity, design school curriculum, step out as a charming and informed teacher or entertainer.

Jupiter Transiting the Fourth House
Gatherless

Great Wizard of facial reconstruction– master of reincarnational nip and tuck– thank you for the wound-gifts of our childhood; the insecurities, overcome, that inspire generations to come. Help us remember what makes houses feel homey (tastefully inhabited emptiness) and hearts to overflow (tribal witness support). For surely we are drifting ghosts without a daily dose of inter-being. The gatherless disorientation of the pandemic: never-ending.

Study family roots and lineage, family therapy, guide and inspire others from home office, do renovations, travel in search of a new home, buy or sell a home.

Jupiter Transiting the Fifth House
Bait-And-Switch

Sublime Sun-Being! With us always, ever seeing! Thank you for Your space/time Sun, whose symbolism is as inspiring as it is sobering: “Yes, there is an incomprehensibly powerful source and center of your life– blindly magnificent, ferociously life-giving– but all radiant centers outside of you are faulty: garden-grower today, flaring serial killer tomorrow. That’s right, it’s a bait and switch: a playful nudge to stop gawking at God’s shimmering perimeter and inflame your radiant center.”

Become more creatively expressive, art therapy, teach children, overcome stage fright, enjoy entertainment, the arts and cultural outings, generate causeless happiness, open to romance and love of life.

Jupiter Transiting the Sixth House
Mythologize

Efforts to maintain health and prolong lifespan are often motivated by a malnourished understanding of death. With each handful of vitamins, ego revitalizes its fear of absolute extinction. What is needed is a meditatively won understanding that egoic disappearance is a generous, grace-imparting act. Death mythologizes our redeeming attributes for the sake of those who outlive us. Set free, at last, from like and dislike of our smelly ego, the people we leave behind can now feel deeply into what our soul most deeply valued and draw inspiration from it.

Develop team-building skills, write resume, enter apprenticeship, start a new diet or health regimen, consult or become a health coach, stock pantry, deep clean, get colonic.

Jupiter Transiting the Seventh House
Lose Everything

Atrocious loneliness: that’s what we inherited from You. A pestering desire to commune with You through Your chosen emissaries: the stumbling soul-mirrors shuffling all around us. If we want a healthy relationship, we must ask, “What happens when a cell in our body goes rogue– forgets that it’s part of a larger body, a bigger plan? Or when two souls stop playing the same inner game?” Answer: Cancer. The message is clear: We must cultivate a shared inner atmosphere. Meditate or metastasize. Soon enough, our partner will be wrinkled and less attractive. Communion doubles down: “Lose everything with them!”

Healthy debate. Study under inspiring mentor. Intimacy born of truth-telling. Couples counseling. Co-teach or begin a new collaboration, travel with partner, join co-working community.

Jupiter Transiting the Eighth House
Deathwatch

Year after year, we watch You, lifting up the selfless and devotional, weighing down the ambitious and self-proclaimed; shedding tears with dignity in the face of crisis while the weak ones numb their goodbyes with “in the moment” lies. Sleuthy Sherlock, we need Your crime scene skills now more than ever. As the gap between “on our knees” moments continues to narrow with age, suicide looks more like a vain attempt at ego-death than a mortal sin. Even now, we hear You whispering, “They’re just re-enacting the jump from boundless being into name and form– in reverse.” How kind of you to remind us: coming or going, we’re always on deathwatch.

If you face it, God can fix it. Enter psychotherapy, seek investors, consult tax advisor, join forces with someone well-resourced, invest and study investment strategies, sex therapy, confess and undress.

Jupiter Transiting the Ninth House
KnowerKnot

Beneath our conceptual differences, we are holographic fragments of the Creator immersed in a subliminal singalong. Or so says Reverend Jupiter in the throes of meditation. It’s an uplifting sermon– best proven, perhaps, by the way the Merciful Witness continues to shine in so many all over the world. For surely only the Divine Hand could untie this knower-knot and– minus some otherworldly intervention– egos would have metastasized into pathetic, “me-story mutants” banging between compulsive “selfing” and premature reabsorption. Almost there. But Someone keeps throwing a wrench in the gears!

Enter or start a school, travel to teach or learn from a teacher, start large writing project, publish, expand sales, design curriculum, outdoor sports, counselor/priest training.

Jupiter Transiting the Tenth House
Tipping Point

Not everyone was destined to become a professional teacher. Yet teaching by example about how best to inhabit consciousness is all we ever do. The question is, will we be oblivious teachers or deliberate ones? Will we look back on this lifetime and say, “Those were the psychological rags I wore when I believed thoughts stopped dead at the edge of my head and my slumped silhouette in a crowd could never have been the tipping point in a stranger’s suicide. Or will we say, “Ah, that was the reverential mood I assumed when I reclaimed my priestly position in the Church of what’s happening now.”

Pursue new career, develop public speaking, marketing or product branding skills, ask for a raise/promotion, resolve litigation, do work that entails travel and coaching, offer or receive career counseling.

Jupiter Transiting the Eleventh House
Inner Game

A community whose nervous system hasn’t tasted the deep rest and communion of belonging to a sangha that shares the same values and plays the same “inner game” has little to lose by flooding itself with paradigmatically incompatible souls in the name of some heady, ego-flattening ideal of inclusion and diversity. Astrological transits can evoke vastly different personalities from a person over the course of time, causing secular friendships and marriages to splinter and break. Relationships embedded in a spiritual community bound together by a shared ultimate reality (and a shared perceptual practice that attunes them to this reality) are the most likely to survive.

Expand friend network, join co-working community or sangha, engage in group therapy, study, find philosophically aligned friends, humanitarian work, fundraise for an organization, volunteer, Woofing.

Jupiter Transiting the Twelfth House
Personal God

Cultivating meaning and compassion in seclusion through meditation, study and practice shines qualities from our eyes that we will never know. This is a good thing. Our aura faithfully documents how we treat ourselves when no one is looking. This means “inner life” is a myth. How we hold ourselves in private is, at some level, known to everyone but fully confessing this fact to ourselves isn’t easy. Perhaps this is the advantage of developing a relationship with a personal God. If Someone cares enough to psychically track us when we’re alone, perhaps we will more meticulously track ourselves, overflowing a better self out into the world.

Make subconscious beliefs conscious, dream journal, learn hypnotherapy, induction skills or an oracular art, practice music or art as a spiritual path, dream journal, attend or conduct a meditation retreat, vision quest, digital detox.
