Dharma Poem: The Looking

Eyeballs looking for their eyeball-ness
The more they aim, the more they miss

Now I know I’m The Looking
So aglow with The Looking

Opinion punching like an empty fist
at the belly of apocalypse

Now I know I’m The Looking
So aglow with The Looking

Temple ruins from an ancient war:
all the faces we adore

Now I know I’m The Looking
So aglow with The Looking

Thinky thorns on savior heads
ascending nowhere– not even beds!

Now I know I’m The Looking
So aglow with The Looking

Warpaint mud on infant cheeks:
face of ego when it speaks

Now I know I’m The Looking
So aglow with The Looking

Plot lines grunting free will dreams
same old actor, different scenes

Now I know I’m The Looking
So aglow with The Looking

Swallowed whole by flesh-tone sky
a distant thunder: “Who am I?”

Now I know I’m The Looking
So aglow with The Looking
