WE ALL SHED A VIRUS. WHAT’S YOURS?
We’re all modeling– and, in effect, teaching– a way of inhabiting consciousness. Our me-stories and moods, the paradigm from which we speak, our inner/outer posture and energetic field— they’re all wildly contagious. Will it take a metaphorical “devil virus” to help us face our infectious condition and confess that soulful self-inquiry and meditative relating are the only effective vaccines?
THEY DRIFT LIKE GHOSTS into our mouth, nose and eyes, sink their teeth into our cells and use our chemical machinery to stay alive and replicate. Worse, they gnaw at our belief in free will, sovereignty, self-determinism. Are they alive? Technically, no; but to an orphaned ego quivering at the edge of pandemic, this Wuhan Coronavirus is the microbial equivalent of Count Dracula lurking in the shadows of our favorite cafe.
Historically, pandemics occur during challenging Saturn/Neptune or Saturn/Pluto transits. Why? Because the dark side of Saturn symbolizes lack, debility and death. When paired with endarkened Neptune (symbol of disease and infection) or dark Pluto (symbol of invasive organisms and mass death) the world is ripe for some viral karma.
Will this Coronavirus develop into a full fledged global pandemic? God only knows. But know this: during this year’s historic Saturn/Pluto conjunction, the astrology is packed up and ready to rumble– if only as a catalyst for the astrologically anticipated socio-economic reset.
Depopulation Agenda
But wait. This is god’s dream. The apparently random (even horrific) events of the world are laced with homeward-pointing metaphor. Why would we incarnate at such a existentially ominous time? Perhaps, so we would ask:
What kind of virus am I shedding? What creepy bio-weapons are seeping out of my hairdo’d lab? Craving? Aversion? Indifference?
Pandemic or not, it’s time to harness the ego-purging potential of this Saturn/Pluto transit. Clearly, there’s too many me-stories roaming, Mad Max, across our tangled inner landscape and we must find some compassionate way to depopulate. How? By closing our laptop. By resisting the temptation to get Pluto obsessed with the latest Saturnian kill-rate. By beating Saturn/Pluto to the punch as we meditatively return, over and over, to our true position as awareness, itself, and– in effect– “die before we die.” By honoring the wisdom of Grandpa Saturn, as he scowls,
Forget about your grandiose, world-saving purpose. It’s time to get stone cold real about the inevitability of Plutonic death and rebirth. Wanna stay healthy? Great. Then face the facts. Communion with the Divine is the only N95 mask that offers any meaningful protection.
Grandpa’s point: dreams don’t need saving, but we do! CorpGov (Pluto) has a vested interest in keeping us too Saturn busy to inquire into our soul’s end game. That’s why we downloaded our psyche (and the world around us) with the irrepressible, soul-guiding language of Astrology. No better time to get real about the blessings and blind spots of our birth chart and transits.
Mercury Retrograde in Pisces: Spiritual Quarantine
All planets are direct until the 17th, when Mercury goes retrograde in the inward-leaning sign of Pisces until March 10th. This makes early February the prime time to feather our retreat space, dive in on the 15th, and emerge on the 10th, just in time for the March 19th equinox. Think of it as a spiritual “quarantine.” Looking for an astrologically supported contemplation to set the tone for your retreat? Try this:
Meditation: Ego is bat-soup crazy
In lieu of a spiritual Apocalypse where humble, decent people are rescued by superhuman envoys from God, ego craves a fleshly, 3-D Apocalypse with a fleshly salvation. If this sappy, 3-D version of Apocalypse is to be averted, we must confess the ways we secretly want and need catastrophe because it holds the promise of freeing us from all the addictive nonsense that pollutes our lives, wastes our time, and curdles our spirit. Egos ache for end times because in the fretting and fearing of it, they achieve an all-absorbing single-mindedness (survival) that mimics the peace of meditative presence.
In short, ego worships catastrophe, even as it dreads it. Better the death of the planet than the disorienting death of Mr. Mind, the compulsive, identity-grabbing problem-solver. The good news? This month’s Full Moon in Leo and the New Moon in Pisces download us with all the gratitude and grace we need to confess that we, the privileged one’s, have nothing but beautiful problems.
February 9th Full Moon in Leo: A playful break from the doom-o-sphere
Ready for a well-earned break from this pensive patch of sky? This heart-opening full Moon in Leo forms a carefree trine and a sexy sextile to the red planet: Mars. Don’t miss this chance to forget about whatever’s happening in the Doom-o-sphere and imbibe in some serious celebration and “causeless happiness.” The relentless warmth radiating from our world-weary heart: more than enough reason to get out on the dance floor.
February 23rd New Moon in Pisces: Cosmic Daring
This New Moon in Pisces forms a veil-parting stellium with Mercury and Neptune. Sextile to both Uranus and Mars, the energy to stay awake and embodied whilst journeying through the subtle dimensions of consciousness is ours for the having. Coinciding with this New Moon is the cosmic daring of a Mars/Uranus trine and a confessionary square made by Venus to the Saturn/Pluto/Jupiter conjunction. Translation: It’s prime time spiritual retreat and some soul-mirroring communion with the ones you love– embodied or not.
What heart-opening insight might this “awake in the dream” quarantine christen us with? This:
Note for fridge
Ego is a broken record. Over and over, it whispers, My conditioning is better than your conditioning. Who sees that? Eternity-with-eyes.
