Astrodharma Transit Report: January 2020

2020: YEAR OF DISCIPLINE & EMPOWERMENT

2020 IS NOT JUST a new year; it’s the beginning of a new 35 year Saturn/Pluto epoch; a time when entrenched institutions harden to the point of brittleness, before breaking, and “personal success” driven egos refocus on empowering and caring for the souls piling in behind them.

The astrological new year, as usual, kicked off on the Solstice (Dec 21st). This year, however, our collective restart was amplified by the December 26th New Moon/Solar Eclipse in Capricorn. Now, over the next six months, that weird, in-between place– where an old life structure was fading, with no clearly defined alternative– gives birth to fresh vision and calling. How quickly will this new life direction dawn? Depends on how obedient we are to the Saturn/Pluto conjunction’s badass commandment: “let the dead be dead.”

Belly breathing

As the Saturnian structures that previously grounded and stabilized us meet with Plutonic catharsis, many beings will flinch, contract and protect. There is no shame in this. The question is, will we contract halfheartedly into ego-hardening fear or will we release ourselves into a deeper, more creative constriction, like a pregnant woman surrendering to each wave of contractions while practicing deep belly breathing? Gradually– after each round of tense, “worst case scenario” fears that never materialize– the soul develops unshakable, rock-solid faith in life. This is the steely grace of Saturn/Pluto.

How to stay grounded during times of insecurity and upheaval?

The Saturn/Pluto prescription is dirt simple: process your feelings through hard work. What kind of work? The “paid to care” work that allows you to transmute survival fear into immersive, timeless absorption. For many, this will mean changing professions which will require unusual amounts of self-discipline and a steep learning curve in order to acquire new skills and techniques. Stick with it. The long term results will be pure gold and those Saturn/Pluto episodes of insecurity and leaden heaviness will taper off as our creative, freedom-loving forces come back online at the New Moon in Aquarius on January 24th.

The Jan 10th Full Moon Lunar Eclipse

On January 10th, the exact conjunction of Saturn and Pluto is heralded by the Full Moon on the Cancer-Capricorn axis, with a penumbral lunar eclipse. This eclipse wants us to get Capricorn realistic about the nature of Cancer moods. Here’s two Eclipse contemplations to spur you on.

1) Gloomy Entitlement

The vast majority of souls that we meet in this life turn into ghosts over time. Cut through the gloomy entitlement by vulnerably communicating the gratitude you feel for the handful of beings that, by some unfathomable grace, feel guided to wake up in front of your smelly soul-mirror.

2) Moody Rockstar

The only reason we elevate the average, everyday brokenness of people, society and planet into disastrous, depressing anomalies is to harden our gloomy rock star status and, thereby, escape the ego-dissolving backwards step into awareness, itself. Listen to the gravely voice of Grandpa Capricorn as he scowls,

Dreams don’t need saving and success doesn’t come from postponing freedom.

Jan 12th Saturn/Pluto Conjunction
Once every 31-37 years, the Saturn/Pluto conjunction steps in to reset the socio-political landscape. Corrupt institutions and the purveyors of false power come to an ominous crescendo, get exposed, then are flushed away in a kind of collective colonic. Of course, the old order doesn’t go gracefully, so typically there are power struggles, cold war and sometimes hot.

Using a wide orb, this process started in 2008 (banking crisis) and extends to February 2021.

With Uranus in Taurus stationing direct a few days prior to this Jan 12th five planet pile up in the sign of Capricorn, bold, visionary, business/investment moves are strongly favored. If this applies to you, temper your newfound surge of power by meditating on this:

Note for Fridge

Influence without emptiness is a sophisticated tantrum.

Here’s four questions to ask yourself during this pivotal, Jan 10-12th period:

1) What needs to end so I can move forward and what kind of support do I need to move through it?
2) What work (or ways of working) have I graduated from and need to release?
3) Which foundations are too fragile to offer security?
4) What kind of home best launches my career?

Jan 25th New Moon in Aquarius
Reactor or Manifestor?

This New Moon in Aquarius is square revolutionary Uranus. Souls lacking a merciful witness to their own and other’s egos are poised for anxiety and overreaction to unexpected change. As the nervous tension builds, many will feel a strong need let off steam through rebellious action. How can you help? Cultivate contentment and common sense, restraint and faith in life.

For the equanimous manifestors, this eclipse and the entire waxing moon period (Jan 24- Feb 9) is the ideal time for beginning new projects. Crisis is laced with opportunity!
