PEDOPHILES AND HEAD-O-PHILES
AUGUST OFFERS SWEET relief from the shadow-outing intensity of July’s Mercury retrograde and eclipses. (Mercury went direct on July 31st). With Venus and the Sun conjunct all month, the mood is more upbeat, social, even romantic. Could the first twenty days of August be the happiest days of the year?
The month begins with a bountiful, life-loving New Moon in Leo on July 31st. Time to begin shaking free of Mercury retrograde’s introspective funk and download some fresh new visions and directions for our life. Feeling a bit of PTSD from the July eclipses? I understand. Try posting my August invocation.
August invocation:
Sublime Sun-Being! Night-guiding Opal! Ignite me with vision, wild and noble!
Don’t get me wrong, the Plutonic deconstruction of Saturnian power structures that fail to protect the innocent and vulnerable– most notably, the Cancer children– continues, unabated (Saturn/Pluto/South node conjunction). Scandal, disgrace, and destroyed reputations will continue to make headlines. The difference is that we now have more direct, easy access to the carefree, Leonine enjoyment of life and loving connections to buffer us from the storm.
But wait. Doesn’t the post-Mercury retrograde shadow period continue on until August 15th. Yes, it does. None the less, the magnanimous New Moon in Leo has christened the entire month of August as a time to “come out and play–” glitches and all. Why the exception? Think: Game of Thrones.
As Mars in Leo inches closer to an exact conjunction with the Sun on September 2nd, a full blown confrontation (with the deceptive practices of the pedo-elite?) is “heating up” (Sun, Mars, Mercury, Venus opposition Neptune). Lord August, it seems, is commanding his subjects to pump-up their capacity for “causeless happiness;” to fill their days with creative leisure and delight, so they have the reserves of well-being and faith-in-life they will need to calmly applaud the Titan’s thespian blows this September and October.
In short, August trains our gaze to see the wonderful alongside the terrible.

Having trouble comprehending the global reach of this pedo-blackmail scheme? Ready to stir a little compassion into your contempt? Try this poem entitled, Epstein Eyes. In the end, there’s not much difference between a pedophile and a head-o-phile!
August 15th Full Moon in Aquarius: Solar Transfusion
This Full Moon is opposed a Sun/Venus/Mars conjunction and trine buoyant Jupiter. It injects a particular kind of bravery into our veins. Not combative bravery, but the existential guts we need to take our rightful place on the divine stage. Imagine an IV dangling 93 million miles down from the Sun into a tiny little vein on your bicep, pumping you with causeless happiness– a loitering, life-loving joie de vivre that has no outward cause or corollary. How will the world look should you decide to surrender fully to this solar transfusion? This:
Enlightenment is something that hunts you down once you stop looking for a secret door out of this funhouse. ~Matt Kahn
Venus/Uranus: A new relational arrangement
Leo knows that to the extent we stop creatively engaging with life, we die. Why? Because creative engagement and improv is how we bump into our timeless Presence. This is especially true for the soul of relationships that survive over time. It is fortunate, then, that this month’s continuing Venus/Uranus square (1st-7th) and trine (20th-31st) infuse this conjugal Sun/Venus conjunction with some enlivening disruption. Yes, the love is strong, but there is a thirst for individuation, a break-free energy that demands some kind of outlet. Fortunately, whatever relationships survived July’s eclipse-o-grade are either resilient enough to handle the need for space or they are mature enough in their love to release each other with minimal drama.
Belgian psychotherapist, Esther Perel, captures the meaning of this month’s Venus/Uranus aspects with refreshing frankness:
For a couple to survive over time, they need to reinvent themselves on location, and to create a new relational arrangement with each other that involves novelty and novelty is “new experiences of yourself in the world” and that involves taking risks — what Rachel Botsman calls, “having an active engagement with the unknown.”
~Esther Perel
August 30th New Moon in Virgo: Doer-ship Momentum
This is no ordinary new moon. There will be five planets conjunct within the first twelve degrees of Virgo. You see, August put all possibilities on the table, asking us to choose the trajectory that felt the most alive and growthful. Now it’s time to tame our wild and noble vision by fashioning a Virgo to-do list and settling into a sustainable work routine. Remember: We will need grounding structure and “doer-ship momentum” to stay equanimous through September’s detailed accounting of the elite’s creepy trespasses, followed (let us pray) by some gavel-thumping jolts of Libran legal justice.
In the mean time, August is our Truman Show moment! What “doorway in the sky” is Mercury direct inviting you to walk through?
