The Mother of all Disasters
June wants to prepare us for the life-pivots coming up during the “eclipse-o-grade” in July. (Mercury retrograde + solar and lunar eclipses). How? By nudging us to ask, What is my soul’s most innocent, alive and unconditioned message to the world? The first step to achieving this enviable insight? Confronting the mother of all disasters.
Use the first 18 days of lighthearted Gemini energy to momentarily forget about your worldly ambitions and stop fretting about earth’s endlessly proliferating disasters. Instead, focus on the mother of all disasters: believing this place is solid. How totally can you lose hope in the egoic messiness and mind-spray of Samsara and see only the theater of God’s mind unfolding? How vigilantly can you train yourself to be a perfection-seer, instead of a problem-solver? This is the spiritual shock absorber you will need to glide straight through July’s bumpy terrain. Alas, this transcendent approach — however fruitful — is not without its dangers:
What’s the difference between being buoyantly faithful to your soul and being delightfully deluded in your ego? It’s actually quite simple. In the first case, you are using the Jupiter/Sun/Neptune T-square to meditatively feel into your soul’s vision and calling as a part of God’s dream. You are focused, but relaxed, because the stakes are not so high. In the second case, self-inquiry feels serious and heavy because you are embedded in a dream-turned- solid. Separation is real, personal failure is a constant threat and your self-image is on the line. This flashing red light state pushes mind back and forth between two unhappy poles: obsessive-controlling ambition and wishful thinking/escapism.
Self-Esteem vs. The Fullness of Being
Self-esteem has always seemed to me a mild form of terror: the desperate posturing of an orphaned ego on a countdown. Yes, positive self-regard may be a brief developmental stage in the maturing of a healthy ego, but, in the end, trying to spin a positive story about a slowly perishing body/mind nailed to the cross of time is, at best, a practice of dissociation.
Perhaps this is why so many souls are so irresistibly drawn to Astrology. By coaxing us into archetypal space, astrology returns us to our true position: pattern watcher, compassionate witness, the fullness of Being enjoying the play of personality. As we learn to intuitively recognize ego’s archetypal identity-grabs, reactivity relaxes and compassion deepens as our attention is redirected to the soul’s positive intention and, beyond that, to the timeless Presence shining through.
Contrast this with the flashing red light state sold to us by our atheist overlords:
Before I was born, I was nothing and when I die I will be nothing. I am a something between two nothings; that’s the (terrifying) thought that is at the origin of all problems. ~Francis Lucille
All Power is Borrowed Power
Mars/Mercury opposition Saturn/Pluto
After the June 17th full Moon in Sagittarius, Jupiter’s expansive influence wanes and the grim determination of the continuing Mars/Mercury opposed Saturn/Pluto aspect operates without benefit of any buoyant counterbalance, creating a more sober, goal-driven mood. Did you use the first 18 days to inquire into the medicine your soul wants to prescribe whist maintaining an awareness of being safe at home in the heart of God, where there is nothing, ultimately, to prove? Or did you put pressure on yourself and/or others to achieve your desires and extract some kind of lasting satisfaction by manipulating the dream? Consider last two weeks of June your report card.
Note for fridge: I have already won; I am just remembering how I did it.

Summary
Okay, you have taken time during the first 18 days of June to playfully connect with your soul’s most enlivening Gemini/Sag message to the world. The second two weeks is the time to enact the routines, discipline and focus that will step you into a role that will allow your message to go live. Lucky you: On the 18th, Saturn forms a long sextile to Neptune helping you to structure these dreams and ideals into daily routines, making them eminently realizable.
The New and Full Moons: Spiritual Travel
The New Moon in Gemini (June 3rd) and the full Moon in Sagittarius (June 17th) are both in opposition to globetrotting Jupiter and square to spiritual Neptune. This makes June an ideal time for all manner of teaching/learning adventures and travel to destinations that allow you to dive into some kind of spiritual study.
Planning a trip during July’s eclipse-o-grade? Think of yourself as adventurous monastic. Get there, stay put and go inward. Was Mercury retrograde when you were born? You’re on home turf. C’mon out and breathe faith into the frenzy.
