Astrodharma Transit Report: April 2019

BECOMING A CONNOISSEUR OF INTERNAL ATMOSPHERE

APRIL BEGINS with a waning crescent (“Balsamic”) moon in the dream-incubating sign of Pisces, which sets the tone for the first two weeks of the month. Yes, the Sun did just move into the feisty, forward-moving sign of Aries two weeks ago, but it was only three days ago that Mercury retrograde went direct. In addition, Mercury began His forward movement in the sign of Pisces, whilst forming a conjunction to the ruler of Pisces (Neptune) and this dreamy, right brain Mercury/Neptune conjunction continues straight on through the first two weeks of April.

Translation: Yes, the risk-taking fire of Aries has been ignited, but a significant part of us is still gestating in Piscean dream time. Continue envisioning your next trip around the Sun even as you initiate humble, forward-moving steps during the April 5th New Moon in Aries. Then begin busting out onto the world stage during the auspicious grand fire trine (Sun/Moon/Jupiter) on April 14/15. Finally, culminate your new vision/project on the Full Moon in Libra on April 19th.

A Vital Question

April poses an vital question: How often do you achieve outward results at the expense of internal atmosphere? I say this because 3-D focused Aries/Capricorn energy is now overlapping with the field-sensing Pisces energy. This creates an opportunity for a rare kind of integration. The inward-leaning, contemplative mood of March is bleeding into work-a-day Aries self-expression. This is our chance to become equal parts action-based and energy-based.

To pull this off we will need to become “connoisseurs of internal atmosphere.” (C.I.A.)

It takes gutsy Aries self-possession to notice what colors we are splashing onto the canvas of our consciousness in the throes of moment-to-moment thought, speech and action. This is the highest octave of the superhero archetype and why it will never die.

April wants to break our me-story momentum so we can heroically pause to ask, How does it feel to believe that thought? and Is it okay with me that the mood of that thought spreads, like a virus, to the imaginary others?

“Awake” means: “sensitive to our wake,” and there’s no better time to make humble adjustments to our wake than Mercury conjunct Neptune.

This marriage of Aries and Pisces gets to the fundamental purpose of incarnation: to be mad enough to be mortal (Aries) and sane enough to disappear (Pisces). To wake up, in the heat of each moment, as the tender witness of me-stories rising and falling within the greater field of timeless presence that we are.

Savored or unsavored, this inner ambience is the world we walk around in 24/7. Failing to meditatively tend to our inner co2 emissions, we become numb to our outer ones. Hello: climate crisis.

April is boot camp for the approaching world-rocking conjunction of Saturn and Pluto on January 12, 2020. In the interest of strengthening our capacity for equanimity under fire, this gradually tightening Saturn/Pluto conjunction is prodding us to pause, more and more frequently, to savor the play of personality (our own and other’s) as waves rising and falling in an ocean of Divine Being.

What happens if we refuse to participate in this pause-a-thon? In the words of Leonard Cohen,

If you don’t become the ocean, you’ll be seasick every day.

April 5th New Moon in Aries:
Baby Steps

This Sun/Moon conjunction in Aries is squaring Saturn, Pluto and the south node in Capricorn. Pent-up and tired of the Pisces fog? Ego may be temped to grab at just about any grounding direction or purpose that presents itself. Take a breath. Random, obsessive ego-assertion will only result in bad investments and power struggle. Instead, confine yourself to baby steps and redouble your undercover, C.I.A work.

This new Moon exposes Saturnian work habits that keep us frustrated and unfulfilled. Time to ask: What new, work-related risk is so enlivening and on-purpose that it’s worth arousing possible push-back- and even failure?

Career direction still foggy? Consider this:

Hope is not the conviction that something will turnout well, but the certainty that something is worth doing no matter how it turns out. ~Vaclav Havel

Tapped into a renewed passion to serve? Great. Build slowly now and culminate on the Full Moon.

April 18th Full Moon in Libra:
Cries for Justice

Saturn and Pluto will conjunct the karmic south node all month, crescendoing on the Full Moon in justice-demanding sign of Libra on April 18th. Think: Corp/Gov figures suffering public retribution, comeuppance and falling from grace. Wanna fall with them? Revel in their demise.

The accompanying media frenzy (Mars in Gemini) will provide a cornucopia of temptations to betray the One Being that we are. Don’t. Instead, inquire: Is judgment aborted grieving?

This Full Moon in Libra is opposed Sun/Uranus in Aries and squaring Saturn/Pluto in Capricorn. That’s a collective dam ready to burst. As the trine to Jupiter unblocks the free flow of truth, the gates of the Plutonic underworld swing open and the cries for Libran justice grow louder.

On an individual level, this Uranus-zapped Sun/Moon opposition may ask us to upgrade or break free from a repressive relationship dynamic. All is well in your relationships? Great. This full Moon equips you with the shadow-friendly presence needed to be a steady soul-mirror for others living through a time of upheaval and emotional rebalancing. By grace, your undercover C.I.A. work will be contagious.
