OCTOBER IS MUCH LIKE the third and final stage of a vision quest, which is called “Incorporation.” The quester hikes down from the seclusion of the mountain and, before speaking with anyone else, recounts the journey of his/her vision fast (as if it were a symbol-stuffed Neptunian dream) to a Saturnian mentor-guide who was busy praying and attuning to them while they were up there questing. In the mirror of this vision-ally, the quester ties together unnoticed themes and synchronicities which provide grounded Saturnian direction and insight.
In a similar fashion, October says, “Someone is waiting to hear your September eclipse story; find them now, before Mercury goes direct on October 9th and the momentum of mind returns with a vengeance.” Also a great time to get a reading. Is there another option? Sure: let September’s bizarre and delirious symbolism go un-mirrored, in favor of resurrecting a begging-to-be-burned-down life.
That would be par for the ego who fancies itself eternally alone, with no access to clear and selfless mirrors. Mr. Mind, after all, is a crisis management mystic. He moves between grim, time-bound responsibility and sudden, unsustainable bursts of intoxication – manageable depression and knee-blowing trance dance.
Breaking this bi-polar swing between Saturnian sobriety and Neptunian intoxication is much of what even-tempered October asks of us as we creep ever closer to the exact Saturn/Neptune square on November 26th. Quit kicking nostalgically through the smoldering eclipse ashes and confess it fully: this pathetically pendulous use of time is both Virgo inefficient and Libran romance-snuffing: abominations to the two archetypes most at play this month.
Ready to harness Libra and balance the mystic/matrix scales? I recommend a humble combination of Virgoan Karma yoga and Libran meditative relating. Try getting lost in picking up trash from a forlorn patch of earth. Unclutter your mind by absorbing yourself in the meditative swing of a broom as you chant:
I know nothing, but I know it very well;
why be a bucket, when you can dream yourself a well?
And while you’re at it, invite a Libran friend to join you. In the throes of some sublimely unmonetized service, allow yourself to savor the subtle, but mighty, Neptunian bonds that form in the midst of do-er-less communion. Need to talk? Try meditative relating: let consciousness have a conversation with consciousness about consciousness. There now. No blown knees in your forecast, beloved bucket.
And how might a squandered October look? Simple: you would surf the Mercury direct wave forward like an average, meddlesome manifester, unbothered by the identity-ventillating grace that the eclipse season foisted upon you.
October Overview
With Uranus and Pluto squaring all month and Saturn moving into a tighter and tighter square with Neptune starting Oct 6th, the largely suppressed symptoms of our socio-economic sickness should start to visibly erupt. Notice how the undulating Saturn/Neptune surrealness makes the Uranus/Pluto upheaval digestible. This is God’s grace FedEx’d to your delirious doorstep.
The Sun will be opposing Uranus until the 22nd and there will be a Mars/Jupiter conjunction opposing Neptune starting Oct 11th, with Venus joining the fray starting the 22nd. Resist the temptation to get fire-and-brimstone about what the truly compassionate thing to do is. Better to aim your pent-up teacher karma at an audience that shows up alert, on time, and poised to enter your heartbroken paradigm.
