Astrodharma Transit Report: April 2026

April has a short fuse for simplistic anti-war sentiments. Better to affirm the soul’s healthy calling to confront:

War and soul-seeing communion grant humans the power to destroy history. No lesser power will satisfy.

That’s right. We were born with a gun in our hands.

What happens when– due to a misguided, “mind your own business” form of pacifism– we refuse to shoot holes through the armor of ego to commune with the One Being? What happens when we’re averse to the mild-mannered destruction of the human story?

Simple. We commune through the friction of differences.

At the collective level, this looks like ego rushing in to fill the void with guns and bombs.

On the personal level, anger, judgment and the “intimacy of shared aversion” rushes in to deliver a crude facsimile of soulful intercourse.

A trigger-happy conjunction

With more than half the Zodiac crammed into a trigger-happy conjunction in the combative sign of Aries (peaking on the 16/17) the pressure’s on. Will we seek refuge in the time-killing urgency of war (and, yes, anti-war) or the time-killing urgency of Presence?

Understand the stakes. Anxiety and faith are vying for supremacy all month. There is no opting out from this perceptual “game of thrones.”

April Koan Practice: War is at peace with itself

April dares us to ask:

Are my protests against this war a distraction from my own inner violence? Is my judgement of the warmonger-in-chief a smokescreen for my own remorsefullness as I mercilessly mow down the Shepherding Presence and machine gun my faith in the coded scenes of my waking dreams?

There is no shame in this. Ego-hardening habits don’t die overnight. Here’s a war-friendly koan to minimize the casualties.

Inwardly, or to a partner, repeat the following koan. Pause between each line to take a deep breath. Don’t agree or disagree. Just sit silently, allowing each line to mysteriously reverberate. Recite the koan morning and evening, for 5 minutes.

April Koan

War is at peace with itself.
Awareness is at peace with war.
Equanimity has always been a kind of madness.

Trauma Bonding: The Cultural Magnetism of War

To understand the cultural magnetism of war we must understand what happens in jails.

Longterm prisoners deliberately re-offend in order to return to their miserably secure sense of “home.” Similarly the release from confinement that the soul feels when relating “as awareness to awareness” is followed by a return to the “jail” of separate somebodyness.

Now think of war as orphaned ego’s style of re-offending in order to trauma-bond with others and take refuge in its “thrown out of the garden” origin story.

This insight gives us the power to undermine war’s necessity. How? By offering a glimpse of the Garden to others.

It also explains why spiritual friends are so important. Until communion with others in a field of prayerful presence becomes our deepest aliveness, the cynical camaraderie of “war mates” will be irresistible.

The play of getting somewhere

War or no war, April is in full support of moving forward in our lives. Towards what? When? And how? The answer to these questions are chart-specific, but a few things can be said.

After groping through the retrograde fog of March, we may feel a tad pent-up. This makes us vulnerable to the over-assertion of Aries will and identity, making us prone to accidents and unintended offense. During this red hot, combustive month, it’s imperative that we refrain from using Gemini words as weapons and de-escalate quickly when we do.

The trick is to enjoy the play of “getting somewhere” from a vast, unmoving center. How? Perhaps by contemplating:

At the core of every desire is a longing for a real place to look from.

Uranus in Gemini (April 25, 2026- May 2033)
What if the questions we ask are the revolution?

On April 25th, Uranus moves into the sign of Gemini for seven years.

This momentous planetary pairing arrives during times of existential flatness and meaningless suspense.

Uranus is answering our call for interactive upgrades, supplying prompts, questions and numinous non sequiturs that excite, for a moment, stunned not-knowing— relationships woven with divine pauses that help us confess: the space between bodies is hopelessly unbridgeable and the best we can do is flirt at the cusp, where sense-making dances with cunning communion.

Sensing April’s temptation to throw “truth bombs” and suffer toxic blowback, Uranus steps in to enlighten our tongue.

One minute we’re having an average, innocuous conversation; the next minute we’re huddled inside a hairdo’d bomb shelter, staring at the candle of self-inquiry. What will we say next? Who wants to know? Uranus loves surprises.

With Uranus (ruler of astrology) moving into the “eager-to-inquire” sign of Gemini we are entering the age of “teaching through targeted questions:” the stock and trade of meditative Astrology and all forms of nondual spirituality.

Notice: In the face of embodied wondering, the worries of the world turn into pixie dust.

Over the next seven years, fixed opinion falls increasingly flat and collaborative self-inquiry sends the heart soaring. What if the questions we ask are the revolution?

Note for Fridge

Cursed with a deficit of crazy wisdom, I forgot: sense-making was only meant to be flirted with!

Are you “me-sick strategic?

On the downside, buzzy Uranus in the sign of brainy Gem while immersed in the techy trance of A.I. can turn folks into a “head on a stick.” Co-arising with Pluto in Aquarius (social upheaval), many will become “me-sick strategic.”

The me-sick strategic sacrifice inner atmosphere for outer security. They work hard to be one of the “not-yet-fallen ones–” with little regard for the habits of mind they are catapulting into future lives. Does godless malaise increase my number of days? So be it.

Is astrology food for the mind?

Okay. Suppose the message of war really is “de-story or destroy.” Doesn’t astrology add more layers to the story? Yes and no.

In the hands of timebound intellect, Astrology is, indeed, mere food for the mind. It hardens me-stories, exacerbates “falling for the trait bait” and turns symbol-spotting into sophisticated evidence of separation.

Nothing new here. A purely academic understanding of any field is dangerous.

As a soul-seeing practice, however, Astrology demands a curious mixture of soulful narrative and rigorous updating presence. To glimpse the full breadth of a body/mind’s “style of awakening” requires wide-ranging intuitive synthesis and fluency in our near-forgotten mother tongue: Edenic, war-killing wonder.
